Nice to Touch: the PHA-4 keyboard
The Roland FP-10 stage piano has Roland's PHA-4 Standard keyboard, with escapement. It's a basic but solid keyboard that replicates the touch & weight distribution of a real acoustic piano. The 88-key keyboard allows you to feel the heavier hammer weight in the bass registers, and the lighter weight in the upper octaves. The synthetic ivory and ebony keytops are comfy and textured to prevent sliding caused by persperation.
Sound: SuperNATURAL piano technology
Roland uses the sample-based SuperNATURAL sound engine for the FP-10 acoustic piano sounds. This sound engine sounds quite good & reacts very nicely to your touch. For high-end models, Roland switched to Virtual Modeling entirely. Yet the SuperNATURAL sounds were used in their professional stage pianos up until a couple of years ago, and still remain a solid choice.
The speakers of the FP-10 are simple 6 Watt speakers. They produce a decent volume, and pleasing, well-balanced tone.
