We're here for you! ask Lieselotte or one of our other piano questions a question via our chat (in the lower right corner). Or contact one of our stores!

Our knowledge of both historic and contemporary piano construction is unique in Europe. The Chris Maene workshop builds not only replicas of piano forts, but also its own Chris Maene Straight Strung Concert Grands, a line of top-range right-handed grand pianos. These concert grand pianos made headlines worldwide, the many CD recordings by international artists confirming their premium quality and importance in the music world.

In addition, since 2004, Pianos Maene has its own second line of instruments, "Doutreligne" (named after Zulma Doutreloigne, mother of Chris Maene). These self-developed quality pianos and grand pianos can now be found in many living rooms, conservatories and concert and event halls.

Since 2014, we were also looking into a digital version of a Doutreligne piano. The digital version had to meet the same conditions : excellent pedagogical quality, at an interesting price, from "manufacturer" to "end customer". Moreover, here too we wanted an instrument as European as possible. Finally we found a German partner who wanted to realize with us the piano that had been in our heads for so long.

We sat down at the drawing table to create a piece of furniture that is as close as possible to our acoustic Doutreligne pianos and grand pianos. The individual furniture parts are manufactured in Asia and shipped to Germany. All the rest of the instrument is developed, manufactured and assembled entirely in Europe.

A number of renowned partners are behind the sound generation technology, including the Fraunhofer Institute, the Max Planck Institute and the Universities of Stuttgart and Nuerenberg. But also the knowledge of Piano's Maene concerning piano construction and piano sound determined the result.

In short, as with our acoustic Doutreligne instruments, the whole team is sincerely proud of these digital alternatives. A good choice for anyone who embraces price/quality and also wants to support Belgian design.

Piano samples

The electronic microchip for sound generation comes from the French concern "DREAMCHIP", and the reference where music and electronics go together. The more than 1 Gigabyte of piano samples were fine-tuned together with the experience of Pianos Maene and are based on the famous grand pianos from Hamburg and Vienna.

Keyboard

The Italian specialist FATAR has been developing and producing premium keyboards for quite a few major brands of digital pianos since the 1980s. We are proud to work with this supplier also in our Doutreligne instruments. Top quality in touch detection, playing feel and dynamics.

Speakers

The sample may be perfect, but the sound for the pianist or listener comes from the speakers. The quality of the speakers is essential to how the piano sounds in free space. For the Doutreligne instruments, we chose high-quality speakers from German manufacturer VISATON.
